Cartridge Authentication

A counterfeit cartridge is a third party product misrepresented as an original Lexmark cartridge.
Cartridge counterfeiting is not the same as refilling or remanufacturing. Counterfeiters sometimes reuse and refill Lexmark cartridges, repack them in look-alike boxes and sell them as new Lexmark cartridges. This "passing off" activity is illegal under federal laws. Purchasing counterfeit goods exposes customers to cartridges that are not made by the OEM and not subject to stringent OEM quality control standards.

Purchase
Make sure you buy products only from Lexmark or a Lexmark authorized reseller.

Price
Be aware of market prices for authentic Lexmark ink or toner cartridges.

Packaging
Packaging that appears to have been re-taped, resealed, reused or otherwise tampered with may not be an original Lexmark product.

Security Labels
Labels are designed to assist in identifying an original Lexmark product.

Quality
Third party cartridges are not manufactured subject to stringent OEM quality control procedures.

When viewed straight on, the strip is clear. When tilted, the strip becomes brilliant blue. Raised characters appear red/gold when viewed directly. Tilt the package and the characters turn blue, then clear.
