Lexmark International today introduced the Lexmark P3150, its first All-In-One with built-in digital camera card slots. This powerful, easy-to-use tool meets the needs of consumers looking to upload images direct from their camera, before editing, sharing and printing. Digital camera enthusiasts can quickly retrieve images and generate brilliant borderless A4, A6 and 10 x 15 cm prints, while the 48-bit flatbed scanner allows users to easily incorporate traditional photos into their digital worlds.
"The P3150 offers consumers access to a similar breadth of features as a traditional photo processing store - but all in the comfort of their own homes," said Paul Kreutzer, Director, Consumer Printer Division. "With integrated camera card slots and comprehensive photo printing features, the P3150 was designed for digital camera owners who demand a high quality but easy to use printer which allows them to not only enjoy their digital snapshots, but also help preserve and share their traditional photos."
Marketing research firm InfoTrends Research Group recently announced findings that indicated sales of digital cameras would nearly replace the sale of reloadable film cameras by 2008. Michelle Slaughter, director of InfoTrends' Digital Photography Trends service stated, "The shift to digital photography will be nearly complete by 2008 due to advancing consumer adoption of a wide range of consumer digital imaging solutions."
A personal photo studio
The P3150 complements virtually all digital cameras, supporting CompactFlash I & II, SmartMedia, Memory Stick, Secure Digital (SD), MultiMedia (MMC), and Microdrive memory cards. Digital camera owners can insert their memory cards into the multi-type card slots, where the images will be instantly uploaded into the Lexmark All In One Centre where they can edit, save and print their photographs - the images on the card can also be automatically deleted from the card after they've been uploaded so that the card can be used again. The P3150 offers a range of photo album templates and a flexible flatbed scanner to capture the finest detail from scanned photos, with 48-bit colour depth and 600 x 1200 pixels per inch (ppi) optical resolution - offering customers the opportunity to convert traditional photographs into digital pictures.
Lexmark's integrated Photo Editor software ships with the P3150 and allows users to perform the most common forms of photo editing:
-
Red-eye removal - simply scan the image, follow the easy steps in the built-in software and then reprint
-
Crop and resize photos - within minutes, transform a 10x15cm photo into wallet-sized pictures or larger sizes suitable for framing and great for gift giving
-
Photo enhancements - just a few mouse-clicks can adjust the contrast and brightness of your photos.
With the P3150, the creative possibilities are endless, allowing users to organise and share memories with a host of easy-to-navigate applications. Consumers can:
-
Create reprints with the touch of a button;
-
Design and print scrapbook pages;
-
Develop an online photo album; and
-
Generate a PC-enabled slide show.
Ultimate ease-of-use
Designed for easy operation, the P3150 is so straightforward that any member of the family can make full use of the multitude of print, scan, copy and photo features. Minimal buttons and a compact, low-profile design make it ideal for users with limited space within their homes. In addition, to help ensure the best possible output, Lexmark's PrecisionSense™ media sensing technology automatically adjusts the print resolution according to the paper type in the input tray. PrecisionSense™ technology also offers automatic cartridge alignment to ensure optimum print performance every time you change the cartridge - it's like getting a new printer.
Also, the PC-enabled copier allows customers to make reprints quickly and easily - with just the touch of a button.
Brilliant output
Capable of achieving true photo quality prints, the P3150 offers up to 4800 x 1200 dots per inch (dpi) resolution on photo paper, six-colour and borderless print capability in a variety of popular sizes. Capable of printing an A6 photo in about 60 seconds, customers will appreciate its performance when time is of the essence.
Pricing and availability
The P3150, which includes a colour and photo cartridge in the box, has an estimated street price of £99 and will be available in all high street electrical stores.
