Steven Singh, age 14 from Glasgow, has been announced the winner of Lexmark's Schools Design Competition with his clever design for the 'TOL Watch' - an 'all-in-one watch' with over 10 different functions, including a digital camera, mobile phone, TV remote and an MPS music player.
Steven has won a state of the art Time S3102 Work Station for his school, worth over £800, as well as a Lexmark X5150 printer and an Olympus mju 300 digital camera. He has also won a Time S3102 Work Station for himself at home to add to the fantastic Lexmark X1150 All-in-One Design Centre and Olympus C-150 Digital Camera, which he was awarded as one of the 6 runners-up in the competition.
The national competition, which was launched in June, challenged kids up to the age of 16, to let their imaginations and creativity run wild and come up with a design for the wackiest, wildest and coolest 'all-in-one' high-tech gadget they could think of. Lexmark currently has a range of compact and stylish 'All-in-one' devices, which can be used to print, scan, copy and fax, but were keen to test Britain's school children to come up with the All-in-one devices of the future.
Paul Kreutzer, Director of Lexmark's UK Consumer Printer Division, said, "The entries we received were of an extremely high standard and clearly demonstrate how imaginative and creative British kids are. The 6 runners-up were all excellent and the judges had a tough job selecting a national winner."
