West Lothian Healthcare NHS Trust has chosen Lexmark International to provide the printing solution for patient administration forms at the three key locations within St John’s Hospital, Livingston, Scotland. Costs and paper wastage have been reduced by 50% providing a return on investment within three years.
Lexmark International was asked to propose a printing forms solution based upon requirements for a significant reduction in support costs of current devices, storage, reproduction costs of hospital forms, and improvement of the quality and efficiency of document output. The Lexmark forms software (Optra Forms DIMM) addressed these requirements providing the users with a print on demand device, increasing workgroup productivity and efficiency. Over 35,000 patient administration forms were being printed each year, each consisting of a two part carbonised set, using dot matrix devices for output. Only one Patient Administration Form is now printed per patient as opposed to two, reducing paper wastage by 50%. Reduced toner supplies costs and improvement of the quality data output was also fundamental in West Lothian’s selection of Lexmark.
“Lexmark has provided us with a cost effective, easy-to-use solution. The customer support and service provided to our staff has resulted in an efficient and successful implementation, as well as the training skills offered for end users. The number of helpdesk calls associated with forms output has been reduced by 100%.” Said David Denholm, IT Service Delivery Manager, West Lothian Healthcare NHS Trust. “We are now looking to rollout the OptraForms solution in other areas throughout the hospital.”
