Over two thousand pounds has been raised for the Scannappeal charity by local printer company, Lexmark International.
The money raised will be used for the £150,000 ‘Eye Appeal’ which will equip two mobile eye scanning units to screen those at risk from going blind.
“The money raised by Lexmark will be used to sponsor a specialist PC to view retinal images to help diagnose certain eye disease. This will be in one of the vans which will go out into the community in Buckinghamshire as part of this new service. We are very grateful for Lexmark’s support for this initiative and, as one our key sponsors, the company’s name will be displayed alongside other sponsors on the vans” said Amanda Martin, Director, Scannappeal.
Scannappeal was founded in 1987 and has held 11 charity appeals raising over £5M. 1 in 7 people in Buckinghamshire has used equipment purchased by Scannappeal during that time. Current appeals are for equipment to help people suffering with breast cancer, eye disease and heart disease.
“We have held numerous charity events to raise money to support this local charity ” Said Giovanni Giusti, General Manager, Lexmark UK. “Lexmark are very proud to be associated with the Scannappeal and I know the money raised will make a big difference to the charity.”
