Question
Are speed and resolution related?
Yes. Some companies make high-speed claims that turn out to be possible only at low resolutions. Ask your salesperson to print a sample at a similar resolution from each printer that you are comparing. You will see the difference in speed.
Question
How much resolution do I need as a home user?
The more the better. The higher the resolution, the sharper the edges and smoother the tones in your images. However, there is a limit to that statement. There needs to be a sensible combination of ink drop size and resolution. Lexmark has a long history of being the first to introduce higher resolutions to home users.
Question
What do I have to give up to use a really high resolution?
Usually the trade off is in the type of paper required. Some printers require special, more expensive paper to reach the highest resolution. There is also a trade-off in print speed. Most printers print more slowly at higher resolutions. So when comparing the speed of different printers, be sure they are printing at a similar resolution.
Question
Does it matter what brand of computer I have?
No it doesn't matter. The printer driver software is compatible with the environment, not the brand of the computer. However you should check what operating system you are using: Windows, Mac or Linux
Question
How long is the manufacturers guarantee, and what does it cover?
Guarantees can differ greatly among manufacturers, so before you finalise your purchase, make sure you are clear about the support that you will be afforded once you get home. Lexmark offers one whole year on-site exchange guarantee.
