Lexmark's Approach

If output costs so much and interferes with so many crucial business tasks, then why aren’t more organizations addressing it?

Increasing numbers of firms are waking up to the opportunity, but they are finding it a difficult challenge. Output continues to confound for several reasons:

  • Most hardcopy costs are hidden - At the majority of organizations, the responsibility for acquiring, deploying and supporting output devices is scattered through the enterprise. No single organization or department has visibility or control
  • Process impacts and savings opportunities are not fully understood - When it comes to output, how do you get the most bang for your buck? How do you know that you’ve maximized your investment? What capabilities are really inherent in the technology? What types of improvements are reasonable to expect? How do you measure success? Or plan for continuous improvement?

Many businesses lack the in-house expertise to answer such fundamental questions. As a result, they spend more than they need to, underutilize the technology they’ve purchased and ultimately experience little gain.
  • Other IT initiatives take precedence - Let’s face it. Output is simply not one of the big issues on the CIO’s radar screen. It’s a headache to be sure, but actually doing something about it would be much too expensive and resource-intensive, right?

Not necessarily. Even small steps - in the right direction - can translate into thousands if not millions of Euros in savings. The key is knowing where to begin and, of course, to have a clear vision of where you are going.

Lexmark’s approach to helping its customers gain control of output is called Print, Move, Manage. It’s a convenient way for firms to understand the full range of ways that hardcopy impacts their organization and the innovative solutions that are available to address them.

Print, Move, Manage encompasses a phased approach that allows businesses and agencies to solve immediate and pressing output problems while gradually laying the foundation for a fully optimized environment.

From solutions that address single, departmental processes all the way up to full management and optimization of output fleets at the enterprise level, Lexmark consultants can work with you to develop customised solutions and best environmental practices for the unique challenges of your organization.
